Today I wanna talk about why you cannot change the natural course of events if you really want to master how to live in this world.

Controlling events, situations, love, job. We want to control everything. Look! Look everywhere around you, itā€™s all about human trying to control. Control nature, so we can have good tap water. Controlling and micro managing employees at a work place so they perform at their best. We put cameras everywhere. It all goes against one of the most important law to live life: go with the flow.

Letting goā€¦ You can say that not doing anything and letting go is a sign of weakness. That the strongest control everything. That we NEED to control everything in order to live as a society and have a familyā€¦ children. YES, we do need some controlling in our lives and we have to be strong to do that. But not all the time. Like everything that is abundant, too much, addictive, controlling things all the time can be harmful for us as well.

You know when youā€™re in love and going to the movies with your special one, watching netflix, eating ice cream and suddenly they ask you: what are we? what do you want from me? what do you need? And youā€™re just like: I want things to go back like it was 35 seconds ago ;_; cries.

Today I want to talk about 4 different skills that will help you navigate lifeā€¦ 4 different attitudes that come from a Chinese philosophy/religion: 1 - the art of non doing. 2 - embrace the change. 3 - donā€™t focus on the outcomes. 4 - let go of excess.

1 - A flow stateā€¦. knowing when to act and when not to actā€¦ Thatā€™s the non-doing. Itā€™s basically something weā€™ve talked a lot. Living in the now. Living in the present and doing, saying, looking, studying, enjoying things that you want here and now. We want to control our partnersā€¦ our future, things we want to achieve. Sometimes we JUST have to choose what we want to achieve and just let life takes us there. You know when sometimes you want to force things to happen and it doesnā€™t happen? Or when you think itā€™s gonna go that way but it went to the complete opposite? Itā€™s because sometimes itā€™s better if we donā€™t take actions. And by not taking actions, we achieve what we want.

I say sometimes because you knowā€¦ if youā€™re addicted to smoking and you want to stop, you have to take that control back into your life. Until it becomes normal letting it go again.

A treeā€¦ we can plant it. We can water the plant. Use fertilizer. But after thatā€¦ we must let it go and let it do its job. If we water too muchā€¦ The plant may die.

The person we loveā€¦ā€¦. We show up, we talk to them. But we canā€™t force them to love us. Love has to come and grow. Donā€™t interfere. Water plants, water love and let it go.

2 - Embrace the change. Everything is changing, nothing is fixed, nothing is permanent. People cling to situations, events, not only because they LOVE the way things are, but also because they donā€™t really trust that the universe has a plan for them and it will actually bring something better later on. But when we embrace and hug those positive changes, we discover that living is all about flexibility, adaptability, being soft, we are like a running water. We discover that being DEAD is being rigid, stiff and dry.

3 - Donā€™t focus on the outcome. Donā€™t keep thinking and obsessing over the thing you want. It has a negative effect on us. It makes us anxious. Our present is filled with desire. We just desire and want things instead of actually focusing on the present actions we must take in order to achieve that end result. The more we crave, the less we value the present moment. We perform worse in the present if we are focused on the prize. When youā€™re kicking the ball, donā€™t think about all the celebration or disappointment you may bring to the crowd. Just focus on kicking the ball. Just like in art, singing, dancing, playing sports, focus on whatā€™s happening now.

4 - let excess go: we want to be at the top, being the best in everything, beat them all. Or we just want to stay quiet here, eating enough just to survive, depriving ourselves from joy. None of this can bring you the ultimate desire of mastering life. Itā€™s all about craving again, you crave to be the best, or you crave to be just okay. Let go of the excess. Let go of these extremes, too good, too bad. No! Just have whatā€™s enough for you to live and be happy. A bird that is nesting doesnā€™t take more than one branch. Because one is good enough for them. Moderation is the keyword.

Trust the ever-changing universe.

Cut loose all the extra weight you carry. Donā€™t keep focusing too much where you want to go, but instead, choose the river that will take you to where you wanna go, lay in a pool float and enjoy the view while youā€™re going there.
